A group of students have been mentoring Key Stage 1 pupils from Shireland Technology Primary through the school’s Reading Coaching Scheme, which aims to support children’s reading skills and development through one to one peer mentoring.
Chosen for their impressive progress in reading, our students have been helping younger pupils to further develop their love of books and discover their own reading abilities and identities. Reading for pleasure can be a powerful source of enjoyment and personal growth, with research demonstrating the benefits in students’ mental wellbeing, attainment and future success beyond education.
Well done to Omar, Djonaton, Prince, Ebony, Raymon and Joudi for their hard work and dedication in making this programme a success!
