Student Council

Students and Families

Here at Shireland, we believe that `Student Voice` is at the heart of the Academy. Our Student Council is a fundamental part of our ethos and implementation of Academy values. Student Council is a combination of all year groups with an elite Student Leadership team in Year 10 into Year 11. We encourage the Student Council to discuss topics surrounding a variety of areas, aiming to enhance wellbeing, achievement, and cultural development. Regular meetings take place to provide a platform and opportunity to share new visions or ideas to Senior Staff and Head Teacher.

Student Leadership - Head boy and head Girl and deputy students

Senior Leadership is made up of 4 year 11 students which are in post from March of Year 10 until March of Year 11. This fundamental group represent and listen to the voices of all students. They also work strongly with family and community relations, representing the Academy in a variety of ways. Opportunities include leading assemblies, supporting staff and families during Parents Evenings and conducting and organising events.

Tutor Representatives and Year Representatives

Tutor Representatives are nominated by their peers. These students support their tutor as well as being part of Student Council. Year Representatives are interviewed by Senior Students. This prestigious role enables students to attend Student Council meetings on behalf of their year group.
