KS3 Individual Report Information

How do we grade attitude to learning and quality of classwork?

Your child will be given a score that reflect their attitude to learning and the quality of their classwork.

 

ATTITUDE TO LEARNING

1. OUTSTANDING

2.GOOD

 
A student who regularly goes beyond expectations; demonstrating exceptional commitment to academy life. Concentration and effort are faultless. They regularly push themselves and are fully engaged. They always demonstrate responsibility for their own learning with homework being done consistently to a exceptional standard.  There is a mutual respect for teachers and students. Uniform is worn with pride and conduct around the academy is exemplary and the student is polite at all times. A student who meets all expectations every day. Concentration and effort are good. Instructions are always followed to the best of their ability and they are keen to always do their best. Engagement is good. They are organised, focused and put in the required level of effort at all times with homework being done consistently to a good standard.  Uniform is worn well and conduct around the academy is good.  

3.REQUIRES IMPROVEMENT

4.INADEQUATE

 
A student who is developing the skills for learning. They can meet the minimum expectations for academy life and learning but this is inconsistent and sometimes guidance and support from teachers is required. Engagement is sometimes good. Completion of homework needs attention as it not always handed in on time nor to the required standard.  Standards sometimes require checking and at times conduct at the academy can fall short of the standards expected. A student who requires support and guidance to meet our minimum expectations for learning. Their pace of learning is affected when off task or distracted. They do not engage fully with academy life. Very little homework is completed or handed in on time. Uniform standards are below those expected in the academy; it is not worn with pride and behaviour and conduct in school causes concern.  

 

QUALITY OF CLASSWORK

2.GOOD

A student who shows an excellent class attitude. They form brilliant working relationships with others in the class and ask pertinent questions to drive their learning forward. They are a pleasure to have in class as they attempt all tasks with commitment and enthusiasm.  They are a truly resilient learner; a role model to other students at Shireland Collegiate Academy. A student who shows a positive class attitude. They form good working relationships with others in the class. They attempt most tasks with effort but may need to ask further questions to help clarify their understanding. The quality of their classwork is generally good and in line with making progress. They are a good learner and set a good example for other students at Shireland Collegiate Academy.

3.REQUIRES IMPROVEMENT

4.INADEQUATE

A student who shows poor class attitude. They rarely contribute to group work. The quality of the work that is produced is below what they are capable of achieving. More time and attention to their classwork is needed. A student who shows a very poor class attitude. They do not contribute to group work, missing out on opportunities to learn from others. A lot of time is wasted in lesson due to disruptive behaviour, which inhibits progress.
