Shireland Sixth Form will be exhibiting at the Connexions Sandwell New Year New Start Careers Fair on Saturday 1 February 2025, 9.30am-2.00pm, at The Hawthorns, West Bromwich, B71 4LF.
This free careers fair, the largest of its kind in the Black Country, is designed for young people aged 14-25. With over 50 exhibitors, including colleges, universities, and local employers, it offers an excellent opportunity to explore a wide range of educational and career pathways.
Shireland Sixth Form offers a first-class education with a broad range of A level and vocational courses designed to help students excel both academically and personally. Through expert teaching, personalised pastoral care and a vibrant student-focused community, Shireland creates an ambitious learning environment that fosters success for all.
Renowned nationally for its innovation and excellence, many Shireland students secure places at Russell Group universities and prestigious degree apprenticeships. Its Futures programme connects students with influential speakers, career insights, and unique opportunities to build a personal brand, preparing them for the competitive world of work.
Students also benefit from a comprehensive personal development and life skills programme, covering employability skills, financial literacy, teamwork, and leadership development. These initiatives are designed to prepare students for future challenges with confidence and resilience.
Shireland’s extensive extra-curricular offerings, including partnerships in sports, entrepreneurship, and the performing arts, equip students with diverse skills to help them stand out in university applications and employment opportunities.
A standout feature of the Academy is its basketball training programme, developed in partnership with the City of Birmingham Rockets Basketball Club. This programme gives student-athletes the opportunity to excel in sports while also achieving their academic qualifications. It includes structured practice sessions, strength and conditioning training, video analysis, specialist workshops and weekly competitive games, providing a well-rounded experience for students.
Ben Brogan, Head of Sixth Form at Shireland Collegiate Academy, said: “Making the right choice for where and what to study after completing your GCSEs is an important one.
“At Shireland Sixth Form, our mission is to provide the best provision in the area and be the preferred choice for our community.
