Attendance Letter – March 2022

March 2022

Dear families

As you may be aware Shireland Collegiate Academy, together with the Education Welfare Service are working very hard to improve both attendance and punctuality throughout the Academy. Over the next school term attendance and lateness will continue to be monitored closely by the school and myself.

Of course, we understand the impact that Covid-19 has had on our school family, and it is understandable and acceptable that any child can be absent on an odd occasion for any number of reasons, all of which should be verified by the Parent/Carer. However, I am sure you will agree that excessive absenteeism and poor punctuality is unacceptable.  Below details the amount of school time lost dependant on % attendance.

Your child’s attendance and lateness figures can be found under the attendance tab on your Edulink account.

Absence and lateness to school results in an immense disadvantage to your child, as they miss considerable amount of content from subject areas as well as having a detrimental effect to the overall progress made by your child.

We will be monitoring this situation over the coming weeks and would be grateful for your support in ensuring that your child/children attend school.  Failing an improvement, there will be a meeting arranged between you, your child’s Head of Year and a member of the Senior Leadership team.

Yours sincerely

Ms A Bell                                                                                             Mr D Irish
