Students returning to the Academy – Year 9

Students returning to the Academy – Year 9
Friday, 12 March 2021

As you will be aware from our recent communications, where we have families’ consent, students will be tested for coronavirus on their return to the academy. Students will be tested three times in the first two weeks back at school, with tests 3-5 days apart. Following this, students will be required to test themselves
at home twice per week.

The aim of these tests is to identify asymptomatic cases of coronavirus and therefore protect everybody within our academy and wider community.
Key Information

We are staggering students’ return to the academy – one tutor group at a time. The process for your Year 9 child’s return Friday, 12 March is as follows:
• Your child must enter the academy via the main student gate on Wilson Road.
• Each tutor group has been allocated an arrival time. Please refer to the table below for this information.
• Please be on time – not early or late. Your child should not attend with siblings or friends.
• Any student arriving at the wrong time will be directed to return home.
• Your child is to be in full academy uniform and wear a face covering. Face coverings are to be worn at all times when indoors on site, including during lessons, unless students are medically
exempt.
• On completion of their first test, your child will be escorted to lessons to continue their day in the academy as normal.
• On their next school day, students will follow our normal academy start and finish times and should use the entrances and exits that they used in the autumn term. Subsequent tests will take place within school hours over the next two weeks.

Your Year 9 child is due to return on Friday, 12 March 2021. Please check the table below to see what time they are due to arrive.

In the event that a student tests positive for coronavirus, we will contact families so that their child can be collected from the academy. At this stage, you should contact the NHS and book a confirmatory PCR test.

Please remember that the tests that we are using (LFDs – ‘Lateral Flow Devices’) are only for the purposes of identifying asymptomatic cases. If your child is displaying symptoms of coronavirus, do not send them in to the academy and ensure that you follow government guidance around self-isolation.

If you have not yet provided your consent for your child to be tested, I would urge you to please do so.
Kind regards
Mr Irish
Principal
