Best Ever Results for Shireland Collegiate Academy

Shireland Collegiate Academy received the best results in the school’s history this year for GCSEs and produced another strong set of A Level and BTEC results for their Sixth Form.

GCSE and A Level students were welcomed back to school in August to celebrate their well-earned achievements after what can only be described as a challenging and disruptive couple of years for education.

Sitting formal exams for the first time since the pandemic, students displayed relieved yet smiling faces as they opened their envelopes with some exceptional individual results delivered.

In a year where results were expected to start to return to 2019 levels, Shireland exceeded these results, including those achieved in 2021.

74% of GCSE entries were awarded grades 9-4, of which 23% of these entries were awarded the top grades 9-7, including a handful of students who were awarded grade 9s across all subjects.

The number of students achieving a standard pass in both Maths and English also saw an increase of ten percentage points compared to 2021, with strong pass rates rising by eight percentage points.

As a result, Shireland Collegiate Academy expects its progress figure to place them in a very strong position both locally and nationally.

Principal David Irish said: “We are so proud of our students who have achieved our best ever results at Shireland Collegiate Academy. A fabulous effort by our students and I want to thank our staff for all their hard work over what has been a difficult two years. We are delighted!”
