Shireland Student Crowned British Schools Trampoline National Champion

Shireland Collegiate Academy in Smethwick is celebrating the remarkable achievement of year 7 student, Danika, who has been crowned the Intermediate British Schools Trampoline National Champion. Competing against athletes up to 18 years of age, Danika delivered an exceptional performance, showcasing technical precision and composure beyond her years to secure the national title.

At 11 years old, Danika is already making a name for herself in British trampolining – a journey which began at just six months old. By the age of five, Danika was competing in her first set of competitions, and by seven, she had reached a key milestone in her development, mastering complex routines.

Reflecting on her achievement, Danika said: “I was so happy and surprised when I won. It was something I had always dreamed of, but I didn’t expect it to happen so soon. I’ve worked hard for this, and I’m excited for what comes next.”

“Trampolining has helped me focus and manage my challenges. It makes me feel happy and alive,” she said.

Danika’s determination and talent have not gone unnoticed at the Academy, where she is highly respected by staff and peers – not only for her sporting achievements, but also her positivity and resilience.

Thomas Daly, Principal at Shireland Collegiate Academy Trust, said: “Danika’s success is an inspiration to everyone at the Academy. She has demonstrated extraordinary dedication and talent. Her journey is proof that with perseverance and the right support, anything is possible.

“At Shireland, we inspire and support our students, showing that with determination, discipline, and hard work, they can achieve anything and build successful, fulfilling futures.”

Beyond her success in trampolining, Danika is passionate about advocating for neurodiversity, hoping to inspire others to embrace their individuality.

“I want to show people that being neurodiverse doesn’t mean you can’t achieve amazing things. I want others to believe in themselves and push for their dreams,” she said.

With her talent, determination, and growing influence, Danika’s future in trampolining looks set to be incredibly bright. Shireland Collegiate Academy is immensely proud of her success and looks forward to supporting her journey as she continues to break barriers and reach new heights.
