Save the Date: Shireland Collegiate Academy Announces Open Event for September 2027 Entry

Shireland Collegiate Academy in Smethwick is excited to announce that it will be opening its doors to prospective students and their families for its upcoming open event on Tuesday 15 September 2026, from 4:00pm – 7:00pm. No booking required.

The event offers an early opportunity for families to explore the Academy for year 7 entry, starting September 2027. Visitors will be able to tour the Academy’s facilities and subject departments, speak directly with staff and students about academy life, and meet the Principal.

As the founding school of Shireland Collegiate Academy Trust, the Academy is widely recognised for its innovative and inclusive approach to education. It combines forward-thinking curriculum with strong partnerships across education, technology and publishing, equipping students with the skills and confidence to succeed in the modern world.

Principal, Thomas Daly, said: “Our open events are always a highlight of the school year, giving families a real sense of the energy, ambition and community that make Shireland unique.

We are passionate about helping every student flourish, supporting them to grow academically, socially and personally while preparing them for a happy, successful future. It’s always a pleasure to meet prospective students and their families and to share what life at Shireland is really like.”

Families are advised to arrive early, allowing ample time to get the most of their visit and help make the right, informed decision for their child’s education.

Applications for parents applying for secondary school places through Sandwell open in July 2026 and Dudley in September 2026. From this date, parents of children moving into Year 7 will be able to apply for their place via their local authority.

Applications are welcome from students in all local authorities. A guide to applications can be found on the admissions page of our website.

The Academy also offers a dedicated Arts Aptitude Programme for students with a passion for art, dance, drama or music. Limited to 28 students each year, the programme provides a platform for young talent to develop and flourish. Interested families must still apply to the Academy through their local authority and list Shireland Collegiate Academy as their first choice. Arts Aptitude applications must be submitted by Tuesday 29 September 2026 before the local authority deadline.
