Pride as Shireland Collegiate Academy students celebrate strong GCSE results and continued progress

Students at Shireland Collegiate Academy are celebrating their GCSE results today, sharing a proud moment with their families, friends and teachers as they recognise their achievements and look ahead to the next stage of their education, training and careers.

Students will now progress to a range of destinations, including sixth form, college, or apprenticeships, with many continuing their studies through A levels or vocational qualifications.

This year, 64% of students achieved a Grade 4 or above in both Maths and English, which the government’s benchmark for a standard pass.  This is an 8% increase on last year’s results.

There has been noteworthy progress in the outcomes for students studying Maths, Science, Geography, ICT and Computer Science, with many subjects saw significant rises in Grade 4 or above attainment.

Performances were particularly strong in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, History, Music, Religious Studies, Drama and Sport where over 25% of students achieved a Grade 9 – 7, demonstrating the strengths and diverse talents of students.

Thomas Daly, Principal st Shireland Collegiate Academy, said: “Results day is a chance for our students to reflect on what they have achieved and take pride in the commitment they have shown throughout their time with us at Shireland. While their grades are an important part of today, I hope they also recognise the confident, ambitious and independent young people they have become.

“Our students are encouraged to set high expectations for themselves, embrace opportunities and remain curious about what they can achieve. It’s been a privilege to support them during their time with us, and I would like to congratulate all of our students on their GCSE results and wish them every success for the future. I would also like to thank our staff and families for the support they have provided throughout.”

Sir Mark Grundy, CEO of Shireland Collegiate Academy Trust, said: “Congratulations to all our GCSE students at Shireland Collegiate Academy. We are delighted to be celebrating your achievements with you, which reflect your years of hard work and dedication at the Academy.

“Qualifications are an important foundation for the future, but the qualities you develop along the way are what will help you continue to grow, adapt and make the most of every opportunity ahead. On behalf of everyone at the Trust, I wish you all every happiness and success for the future and look forward to seeing al that you go on to achieve.”
