Applying to shireland sixth form has just got easier
We’re excited to announce that all applications for September 2026 entry to Shireland Sixth Form will now be made through our new online admissions platform – Applicaa.
Applicaa makes applying quicker and easier than ever – it’s simple to use, allows you to track your application in real time, sends you alerts from us about interviews and key dates, and keeps all your information in one secure place.

Students apply using our online form and are then invited to attend an interview with one of our senior leadership team. Our interview process offers families and students the time to consider the suitability of the subjects chosen. Sometimes students change their minds after application, this can be accommodated through discussions with the Sixth Form team throughout the academic year.
Important dates for year 12 applications - sept 2026 entry
Please note that applications remain open throughout the year – it’s not too late to apply!
1. September:
Applications and open event announcements are made live. If you are unable to make any of our events, and would like to arrange a visit to view our sixth form, contact our Sixth Form team on 0121 558 8086, or email BBrogan@sca.shirelandcat.net or BAtwal@sca.shirelandcat.net
2. November onwards:
Students will be invited to a consultation appointment with a member of our Sixth Form team. This is an opportunity to discuss your application, review your subject choices, and receive personalised support to help you make the best, informed decision for your future. Please note, this is not a formal interview.
3.December onwards:
Following your consultation, you will receive a conditional offer letter. This offer is based on you meeting the required entry criteria for your chosen courses.
4. May-June:
GCSE exam season – focus on achieving the best results possible!
5. June/July:
Attend our Sixth Form Induction and meet your new teachers, classmates, and start your academic studies.
6. August:
GCSE Results Day! Once you know your grades, we will confirm your subject choices and formally enrol you as a student at Shireland Sixth Form. If you do not meet the entry requirements for your chosen courses, don’t worry – we will work with you to explore alternative options, subject to availability.
7. September:
Before beginning your studies, we encourage students to complete our enrolment programme, helping you settle in and prepare for the year ahead.
Changing Your Mind
We understand that students may wish to change their subject choices after submitting their application. These changes can be discussed and arranged with the Sixth Form team at any time during the academic year, subject to availability.

Induction
In the Summer Term, all students who have accepted an offer from Shireland Sixth Form will be invited to our Induction Day – your first real taste of Sixth Form life.
You’ll be welcomed by the Sixth Form Leadership Team, meet your future teachers, and join your new classmates for a morning of team-building activities. You’ll also have time to explore and familiarise yourself with our newly refurbished Sixth Form base, chat with current students, and take part in subject taster sessions led by our expert teachers – giving you the chance to experience your chosen subjects and start shaping your future pathways.
As part of your induction and to help students settle into their studies here at Shireland, we also provide links to to useful resources and subjects tasks and reading, with work designed by our subject teachers and pastoral team.

GCSE Results Day
All prospective Shireland Sixth Form students – both current Shireland students and those joining us from other schools – are expected to attend GCSE Results Day to confirm their place and finalise their subject choices. On the day, you’ll also receive your welcome pack, which includes everything you need to know about the enrolment process and what to expect when you start in September.
